These Mermaid Tail necklaces are hand forged from either a small demitasse-style spoon, a regular dinner spoon, or a large soup spoon bowl depending on the size ordered. You also have a choice of material for your pendant.
Each spoon bowl is cut to shape, and then cold forged and bent to give it dimension and realism. Tails are then textured by hand, and if desired, patina added to give it color. After polishing, your choice of charms, and 18" chain option makes this custom designed, unique piece that is truly yours. Each mermaid tail is hand crafted and customized, the actual item will differ from the example photos shown.
Please keep the following in mind when you choose your preferred finish.
The original finish will be the a silvery finish with no patina. It may include areas of minor wear that show the underlying material (e.g.copper).
The Patina finish is a surface process that creates a typically darker antiqued finish. The advantage of a patina finish is that it evens out any wear marks.
Items are handmade to order, thus are not eligible for rush shipping. We strive to complete and mail each customized item within a few days.
Sterling items typically take a bit longer as we do not keep a large stock, and may need to acquire material. Typically it only takes only a few days to a week longer. However, depending on available supplies, the number of outstanding orders, and other factors it may take longer.
Please allow plenty of time if needed by a specific date also let us know date needed when in the Special Requests section.
During the cutting and bending process of silver plated spoons, the underlying metal which may contain copper, nickle or other base metals may be exposed. If you have specific metal allergies, please request the stainless steel or sterling silver options.

Waxed Polyester Cord: This is an 18” waxed polyester cord with a lead-free, nickel-free chain and clasp.
Silver Plated Chain: This is an 18” cable chain and clasp made from base metal that has been electroplated with a layer of sterling silver.
Sterling Silver Chain: All 18” sterling silver chains are cable chains made from solid genuine .925 sterling silver with a sterling silver clasp.
Do you have silverware gathering dust in a drawer that you never use, because the time never seems right to use, or you don’t want to split it up between your children, or no one in the family really wants it? Now you can have beautiful custom jewelry made from your family’s heirloom silverware that can be passed down for generations along with the family lore as to how the silverware initially found its way into the family.
If you would like to use your own silverware for this item, prior approval is required before ordering. While we often use customer provided silverware you must still get approval, as a few types of silverware do not bend well for some jewelry products. Please fill out the Personal Silverware Use Approval Form. Once approved, we will provide you with shipping information and an approval code, to use in your order.
Also, depending on the pattern and needs, we are sometimes willing to trade your silverware for jewelry. By trading for excess silverware, the cost of your jewelry could be free. Please contact us for more details.
